Why does this matter now?
For private businesses the exposure is ADA Title III litigation, and those lawsuits are being filed today. The DOJ deadlines you may have read about belong to the ADA Title II web rule for state and local governments. On April 20, 2026 those deadlines were pushed back to April 2027 or April 2028, depending on population size. Private businesses were never on that clock.
